The diverse scenery is a great object for landscape photographers and painters as well as anyone who appreciates the unspoiled beauty of nature.

     We invite you to come and explore the dramatic Eastern Oregon landscapes of desert, rivers, and mountainous terrain with its many cliffs, canyons, and ancient rock formations. Go fossil hunting in one of the world’s most famous geological areas. Visit the Thomas Condon Paleontology Museum at the Sheep Rock Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument to get a glimpse of the 50 million year old history of this region. Take a scenic boat trip down the John Day River, one of the longest un-dammed rivers of the USA.  In winter, go cross-country skiing or sledding in the Ochoco wilderness. Hike on hidden trails into the wilderness to experience the breathtaking beauty of Mother Nature. See antelopes, deer, coyotes, humming birds and butterflies, and enjoy the deep silence of the nights.
